UM Museum Programs for Children and Families

The UM Museum Education staff believes that exposure to art, history, and culture should start at an early age and can prove to be an enriching experience that leads to lifelong learning. Please visit the links below to learn about our exciting programs on offer for children and families.

Mini Masters

Art for Ages 2-5: Parents and toddlers alike enjoy these one-hour art classes designed for the youngest budding artists. Children explore paints, prints, sculpture and much more.

Art Zone

Offered to children grades K-6, the UM Museum’s after school educational programming links current exhibitions to innovative art projects. Healthy snacks are provided to the children complete with nutrition information and instructions for parents.

Family Activity Days

The Museum offers fun-filled activity days for children to experience with their families. These events coincide with exhibits, holidays, and other special events— enriching the museum experience for all ages.

Summer Programs

Long before the school year ends, the Museum staff is hard at work preparing for fun-filled summer camps and activities throughout the months of June and July. Summer Camps for children entering grades 1-8 and Summer Day Camps for daycares looking to expand their summer programming offer creative activities and education experiences linked to the Museum’s exhibitions.

Passport to Art

Through this unique program, the Museum education staff will create a summer program for your daycare group that will meet once a week at the Museum for eight weeks. Special, age-appropriate activities will bring the exhibitions to life for young children.

Summer Camps

The Museum offers week-long summer camps throughout June and July for children in pre-school and entering grades 1-5 and grades 6-8. These camps explore a wide range of topics and artistic skills taught by our talented education workers.
